KWFN To Debut Annie & Elsten In Middays

97.3 The Fan Brand Mgr. Adam Klug joined the Ben + Woods morning show to explain what happened surrounding the departure of John Kentera:

The takeaway is that Kentera was informed on October 12, 2023 that his midday show would be discontinued *but* was given a chance to host shows on Saturday + Sunday mornings (which Kentera declined). Last show was scheduled for Fri. 12/22/2023.

In his last appearance on The Fan on Thu. 12/21/2023, Kentera mentioned in his closing remarks that he would have a "special announcement" on the Friday program (which never aired).

Once it leaked out on Thu. afternoon 12/21/2023 to the San Diego Union Tribune and the Twitter/X-verse that Kentera was out of middays, the station pulled the plug on the last scheduled show - out of fear of negativity towards the station - with the station unable to defend itself since the whole story was not out yet.
