KWID is #1

Congratulatons to KWID (LA BUENA).I believe they are the only Spanish language station ranked #1 in any PPM market.

I think they are the only #1 Spanish station in a PPM market. Congrats to Lotus, it seems they really know how to serve the Latino/Mexican community in Vegas.

BTW what ever happened to KISF? I could've sworn they were always #1 or somewhere in the top 5. They're no longer listed.

All of the Lotus Las Vegas stations are PPM. We PPM not only our mains, but our backups, translators and our internet streaming. Arbitron rates internet seperately from the over the air, so if we (hypothetically) get good ratings in Buffalo NY, it will show up. Arbitron provides the equipment, the coded signal is not detectable to the human ear and our only cost was my time installing it and a whole lot of XLR connectors!
Strictly my opinion, but PPM is a fact and gives an accurate reading of what people are actually listening to rather than what they say they are listening to. I respect Univision's right to opt out, but think they are making a serious mistake.

Minor correction... Arbitron will rate a web stream combined with the air signal if there is a 100% simulcast and the station requests single line reporting, the name for "combine all simulcasts on one line under one set of call letters."

Correct Dave, but Arbitron also rates the streaming by market, so If my KWID or any of my stations has a significant listenrship in Buffalo (or LA or Podunk or any other PPM market) it will show up int he book for that market. Ditto for an out of market station that has significant listenrship in our market showing up in our book. Since the PPM is an honest "what they were listening to." and not what they say they were listening to, that could happen if people listen online at work, on their Cellphones or any other way they can pick up streaming. I don't really know of anyone who is takeing that out of market stuff very seriously for rating purposes however. Something like the latest OJ trials or celebrity LV activity might increase out of market listening to LV stations, but I doubt significantly.

Univision is not encoding. KISF, under Diary methodology was the first Spanish station to reach #1 in the General Market (in Las Vegas) in Spring 2004... ;D... But yes, KWID is the first #1 Spanish station in a market under the PPM methodology (General Market 12+). It is also #1 in every key demo (18-34, 18-49 and 25-54) in Las Vegas. That is a credit to the great job of Benjamin Ayvar, Alex Lucas and the entire La Buena team. It's an honor to have them there! ;D
