I recently drove up I-30 from Dallas through Texarkana, Hope and Prescott during the day. There was a time (seemingly not that long ago) when KWKH was readily received on that route from Sulfur Springs, TX to around Malvern, AR.
Suffice it to say that onetime "Friendly Giant" at 1130 was virtually a no-show. KEEL was as strong as I remember it but KWKH didn't seem like the 50,000 watt blaster that I recall. Even 5,000 watt KOKA at 980 was more robust than KWKH on that route.
Are they are low power (or night pattern) for maintenance? Or has the ground system at Dixie just deteriorated over the years?
