Stumbled across this awesome little station. It's a contemporary music variety format on AM with good sounding talent, production and a good emphasis on local info and sports. Impressive! What's the story with these guys? They stream at 1340thewhale.com.
 
Rob Uteda and his staff are a good group of people and the have great attitudes and know their stuff....me and my company "CBS-Spokane" handle a bit of their production---they are great to work with and really want to make things work there in Anacortes. They moved the "Music Of Your Life" off and changed the call letters from KLKI to KWLE...and if there was a way to get them an FM Translator...they watch the Whale fly....big time.....Been doing some stuff for them for a few years...they are fun to work with....and live and breathe radio---pretty much the way it "used to be." I wish them all the best in the world!!! They are pretty much living out many air personality's dream---to own their own station. Something I wish that I could do....what a blast that would be!!!

They started out as Hot AC......which still makes a good third of their format. But lately they've been playing a lot of indie cuts and alternative. It's a fascinating station...you really never know what to expect.......
