KWNR, KKJJ changes

KWNR has changed their presentation. No more $10,000 contest, jingles, or produced sweepers. Jocks talk very little. There are now lot's of cold segues. There are quick listener drops with no station ID that say things like "I like country music because it tells stories that I can relate to" or artist drops like "I'm Aaron Tippin, in my truck is a Hank Sr CD and a Dean Martin CD"..once again no call letters or station ID.

This is a drastic change, KWNR has gone from a CHR/Hot AC delivery to an AAA "we respect the music" style. It seems like they are playing a lot more music, will this help TSL? Or is the new approach too passive/background/automated sounding?

I notice JACK has tweaked their music. The disco category is gone, which makes sense since PARTY covers some of that genre. KKJJ is more rock than ever, they also seem to be playing more 80s rock/alternative that STAR used to play. they are now basically the third classic rock/hits station. I don't think there is room for all three, eventually one of them will give up, which one will it be?

I just read this on the LA board regarding KFI's imaging:

New orders from San Antonio. It's company wide. You'll be hearing shorter imaging on most if not all of the Clear Channel stations...

I am guessing that this is why you are hearing such a drastic change. Has Party or Sunny changed their imaging at all?
