KWNZ 106.3 Reno,NV

EJM said:
As it turns out, the format isn't CHR, but arguably Rhythmic AC--focusing on Top 40 hits from the '80s and '90s, and billed as "The Hits You Miss".

The placeholder splash page (with live stream) is at http://www.1063popfm.com.

I'm so hooked. This station is bringing back a lot of memories. Songs I haven't heard in ages. I wish more rhythmic ac sounded. So much music variety of pop music from the 70 till NOW. :)

And what makes KWNZ really stand out (compared to other stations focusing on 80's/90's music) is the imaging. The voice of the station (Mitch Craig) was the voice of KWNZ in the late 80's and early 90's. And they use a jingle package (not sure of exact one) that was commonplace in that era.

I listen to Pop here on the East Coast on my TuneIn apps and love it. This is a no brainer, the imaging with the music = awesome. I haven't heard anything like it here in the Southeast. Jams Jingles, 80s/90s and Mitch Craig... Pop 106.3 :)

Kwnz - pop fm (106.3)

Wow! It's a throwback CHR... It's like traveling back to the 80's & 90's... What a great station! I can listen for hours.

Pop FM

This station has been on the air for 2 years now and has never even reached a 1 share. If you're listening for hours... you're the only one.

Well

This station has been on the air for 2 years now and has never even reached a 1 share. If you're listening for hours... you're the only one.

I did cause a big shakeup @ 106.9. made them change names and lean more toward POP FM esq like music.

I seen a billboard with Katy Perry and Babyface for the longest time

Really?

This station has been on the air for 2 years now and has never even reached a 1 share. If you're listening for hours... you're the only one.

Hmmm... As I remember, they signed on in May of '12... So, that would make them on the air for just over ONE year. You better go back to math class!

Oops - Typo, POP FM signed on in 2013.

Hmmm... As I remember, they signed on in May of '12... So, that would make them on the air for just over ONE year. You better go back to math class!

Correction: They signed on in May of 2013... Just over ONE year.

Excuses, excuses

POP FM was mostly classic CHR, 106.9 dropped the "Sunny" brand to present a younger image with More FM. So how exactly was 106.9 trying to sound more POP? Seems like 106.9 was trying to drop all classic music from its playlist.

POP FM was a failed experiment. It had a few fans, but nothing to move the ratings needle. In fact, none of the Shamrock stations have made a dent in the heritage stations. Despite grabbing up the heritage calls and airstaff, it's just not the same.

"Typo"... Actually, POP FM signed on in May of 2013... So they've been on the air for just over ONE year. I was listening to them OL the other day since the CHR change... They sound pretty damn good!

Mr. excuses

LMAO! You sound like an employee for one of the other radio groups in that market, and not a very intelligent one. Reno is probably the ONLY market that you have ever worked in, otherwise you might have a clue that brand new frequencies & stations take time to get established. There have been new stations here in L.A. that took 3-4 years to make a mark in the ratings, and that was with big marketing dollars. People are creatures of habit, but when they DO find out there is a great new flavor, they are quick to change. Stick to what you know, reading liners on the weekend shift.

Excuses

And yet, POP FM has already dropped the classic CHR and gone all new hits. So even Shamrock could tell that Classic CHR wasn't working. And it's not a "new signal" problem, it's a "piss-poor signal" problem. How many listeners does POP get in Carson City? Very few because the signal is unlistenable there. Lake Tahoe? Same problem. But I'm sure it comes in great out in Fernley or Fallon, which by the way, aren't in our Arbitron/Neilson market.

I do like the insults you throw at me though. I guess insults are easier to throw around because you don't have to back them up with facts.
