KWOD-106.5 Losing Adam Carolla

I have heard that Adam Carolla is leaving his Morning Show as of this Friday, and that there will be a month of BEST OF CAROLLA SHOWS. I am curious if KWOD will be doing a New Local Morning Show or just pick up a Syndicated Show like BOB & TOM or OPIE & ANTHONY?
 
"Best Of Carolla"?
That would encompass about, what, 25 minutes total?

If KWOD is looking for a male testosterone 18-49 audience,
how about Lex And Terry as a Carolla replacement?
KWOD would then become the only station west of the Rockies
to carry them (L&T has eleven affiliates, Texas-east)...
Or, since I haven't listened to KWOD much of late, would L&T
be too much for the feminine persuasion to handle?

is Bonaduce in line to replace Carolla, and perhaps just take the show over?

Couldn't find much in the way of facts regarding Carollas supposed departure. he getting canned, quitting, or is the contract coming up and a ploy to get more?
 
The fact that they will be running "best ofs" leads me to suspect it is either a contract negotiation or his decision to depart. If he were getting fired, I don't think they'd be able to run recordings of his show after the fact. Of course, that is assuming he has a pretty well written contract.
 
All Acess says affiliates were informed this Friday is his last day..best of thru the end of the month for a month, but no other info.

Haven't seen Kimmels' show aside from a few clips, but if I were king, they'd get back together and do more Man Shows. That and South Park back to back Saturday nights was great!
 
The station he originates from is changing formats today, Friday Feb. 20, at 5 PM To A Top-40 Format called Amp Radio and Carolla is out the door. I for one think KWOD should go back to music in the morning. Perhaps KWOD could reunite Andy Sims and Scott Forrington for a new morning show. Or maybe they could similcast Armstrong and Getty too! It seems as though every other radio station in northern California is so why not KWOD too?

Well so what? CBS in San Francisco uses Abc's The Oldies Channel on KFRC 1550! Programs are syndicated to other group owned stations everywhere. I was just kidding in the other post. I want Scott and Sims reunited, anyone else? Armstrong and Getty the only local mainstream choice for local talk in Sacramento is for the birds.

Has he been on radio recently? I worked with him briefly doing traffic about 10 years ago, good guy. And I agree, in most cases, local talent (IMO) will help brand the station and localize it

There's also Eric "To the Right of _____" Hogue on KTKZ weekday's at noon.

Comparing the "True Oldies" Channel on a nearly worthless stick in the Bay Area to the revenue potential of A&G is silly. Of course you were just kidding.

The revenue loss for CC syndicating A&G to KWOD (Which would probably be a demographic mismatch) would mean that CC would have to charge Entercom a huge sum to let them have it.

You're right that the lack of local talk talent in Sacramento is for the birds.

they should just dump KWOD and make it an oldies /funk station, or a "movin" type format.

Adam Carolla would have never been on KWOD as Ed was too much of a Cheap Skate to bring in a Syndicated Morning Show. If Ed still owned KWOD, The Morning Show would probably still be BOOMER & THE DAVE! ;D

Syndicated shows are the cost cutting way to go... having a fully staffed local show is far more expensive.

I agree!
I want The Morning Retort Back! Andy and Scott were hilarious together.
In general Sacramento morning Radio sucks. The only some what funny crew is Wayne, Jay, and Regan in the mornings but they get on my nerves.
