I'd say it's well on its way of being given the kiss of death. I would say in less than six months, Russell would eventually go under along with the properties that are struggling hand and foot that're on the air......or the lack of a better term, MAXIMUM FCC FINES!!!<P ID="signature">______________

The ironic thing is his company is called "Community Broadcast Group, Inc." What "Community" is talking about?! His stations are nothing but glorified jukeboxes with liners and spots.

Glorified jukeboxes, I'll buy. But the liners and spots, I'd have to argue...at least on KWRD. I hear the TOH legal and occasionally hear something sponsored by Trinity Mother Frances, but nothing much beyond that.

How can you keep a radio station on the air like that?

Although I haven't worked in ETX in ten years now, I will never forget that station and it's FM sister. Chipper Dean hired me part time but I had the shortest tenure of my entire career there. 6 hours! I was working Sunday morning on FM and their regular morning guy was running the AM. He kept coming in the studio and just treated me like SH**. Even now, this guy was the BIGGEST A-HOLE I have ever encountered in the business in 20 years! I don't even remember his name, but I do remember he was very fat, extremely verbally abusive, chain smoked, kept pushing me aside to adjucst my board like I was a total newbie and automatically assumed I was there to steal his job. I called the PD that afternoon and told him I would not be coming back, please just mail me the paycheck for my one shift. I remember he sighed heavily. Apparantly he had really high turnover because of this guy but for some reason couldn't fire him.

One other wierd thign about that station. I recall that the lady who handled traffic refused to use a computer, or a typewriter. Logs were HANDWRITTEN, in PENCIL! Also, you were required to do weather for the entire state including major airport conditions and temps off the AP wire twice an hour.

I never tried to work in Henderson again. That place had serious issues even in it's glorious days under Chipper Dean. I'm really not surpirsed to hear it's wound up this way.
