I read on the FCC daily digest that the transfer of license from Mr. Jerry Russell to Jerry Hanzen is being informally protested by Larry Fuss. Well these days I think that is the only station still licensed by Russell that is still on the air.

AM STATION APPLICATIONS FOR ASSIGNMENT OF LICENSE PETITION TO DENY

TX BAL-20080617ACD KWRD 71519 JERRY RUSSELL D/B/A THE RUSSELL COMPANY Voluntary Assignment of License,
E 1470 KHZ HENDERSON, TX as amended
From: JERRY RUSSELL D/B/A
THE RUSSELL COMPANY
To: HANSZEN BROADCASTING
Form 314

Just so everyone one knows Mr. Russell sold KWRD for $100,000.00, and 25,000.00 of that has to go to the FCC for the EAS violations (while Burd was running it). Mr. Hanszen if your reading this get a new transmitter that one burnt up 3 years ago (thats why they were off the air for 18 months), and its in really tough shape. I was called in to work on it, and Russell didn't want to spend the money on the parts on it (plate transformer and rectifiers burt completely up. Russell had a timer on the air conditioner that cut it off at 7pm, but his board op left the transmitter on one summer night, and about 8:30pm it was toast. That transmitter has been run into the ground.

By the way everyone the land and the studio building that KWRD is on was (a year ago) owned by former KWRD owner Dick Witkowsky! So I wonder if Mr. Haszen bought the building too?

They did get a new plate transformer. As far as I know, it is making full power now. As AM stations go, this one can now be described as "loud." On the right radio, it actually sounds pretty good.

Past that, I don't know anything about the new ownership deal, but the station certainly sounds a lot better than it did 45 days ago.

Nosey folk wanna know.... ;D ;D ;D

Is there a way to view these filings online? I've looked at fcc.gov and saw where they were filed, but not the filings themselves. Am I out of luck?

yes if you look at applications under AM station query look up KWRD and info or applications

That was where I looked. Perhaps I'm an ignorant peasant and wasn't looking in the right place(s).

I saw where the filings had been made, but didn't find copies of the filings themselves (I did find the sale and LMA info, though).

The informal protest is not on the FCC site you will have to ask Larry for a copy of that
