I think that is pretty much correct. Hunt Broadcasting was very involved in several "creative" moves to get rim shots into Dallas. The Flower Moound station was one of them.

KXAL and KDVE were a couple of the left overs from those moves. Hunt recently completed the sale of both of those stations to Waller. There is still a Hunt station in Jacksboro that was ophaned by the moves as well. I don't think it is currently on the air, but I've heard rumors that it may be resurected soon to keep the license active.

If anyone wants to live in Jacksboro, it might be an opportunity worth investigating.

Whoops yeah youre right KGRI-FM was originally at 100.1! Its been too long. It started out as a 3K on a tiny stick, then 6K and then 12K by 1995. It had a great signal at that time.

Chipper was trying to get people in Kilgore to listen to KGRI the late 90's, even building an auxiliary studio in Kilgore in the bulding next to the "Do It Right" hardware store (and almost across the street from the old KOCA/KKTX studios) with little success. Then he sold it off.

My interest in Henderson radio dates from the late 1950's and early 1960's when my Aunt had a 30 minute Saturday morning radio show on KGRI about Rusk County history. When I'd visit her, I used to love to go along while she did her show. I didn't care much for the history lesson, but I loved the old studios on the hill with their Western Electric equipment.

That's probably what hooked me on radio.

Indeed, he does. I know it's sometimes a stretch in Henderson and points east, but weekdays 9-11AM on KKUS/Tyler "The Ranch" he's on and will pepper in a Henderson/KGRI story.<P ID="signature">______________
