Does anybody have any info on the glory days of KWSS?

1.) Remember Choose it or lose it music? (you'd call in to vote ona song, and if enough people hated it, they wouldn't play it)

2.) Remember Kelly and Kline's Christmas wish.... that was great

3.) Any other stories anybody can remember?

Kelly & Kline were excellent. John Mack Flanagan and Bo Jackson were two of my other favorites. Preston did an incredible job for Western Cities and he will do the same for 'FRC.

I always liked John Mack. I still have some KWSS airchecks with him. I sent them an aircheck and resume back then but they weren't fortunate enough to put me on the air.

I liked KFAT better. But it's only radio, after all.

Well, you must be a KPIG fan I suppose.... oink!

I remember talking with someone else off the board about the Kelly and Kline "stereo joke of the day". If you put your stereo to the left channel you'd hear a clean joke and on the right you'd hear... take a guess... a dirty joke.

Classic!!!

I had the pleasure of being Kelly and Kline's morning newsman for nearly two years, from 1984 - 1986. It was a great time to be young, single and on a hot radio show!

I've been in Chicago the past 20 years. Currently News Director/Morning Anchor at WLS-AM, where I've worked since 1993.

Good luck with the merger/buyout of ABC Radio & Citadel Corp.

KWSS was very influential on my perception of radio (thanks Mr Preston)! I was fortunate enough to work with one of the jocks who supplied me with a copy of the jingle package (I believe it's the original package).

I'd love the opportunity to work w/Preston, he knows how to have a BLAST and get work done at the same time!

It seems I've come across the old K & K TV spot (where they fall into a couples bed, and wake them up)...it was somewhere online, but can't recall. Sorry.

Thanks for the 94.5 memories...

I wish you can put some more airchecks, like KWSS (scoped or unscoped) on the Bay Radio Radio Museum or on Mike Schweizer's aircheck site. Lots of good historical airchecks from stations in the past located at:

www.bayarearadio.org][/url

audio.lns.com/ms_airchecks[url]

The airchecks will be updated regularly as time goes by.

I had heard Kelly & Kline a long time ago (they had eventually landed in the Hartford market for a time) and I had also heard midday guy Chuck Geiger (spelling?) as well. I had some assorted aircheck of all of them but they had become lost during a few of my moves.

I think Art Voluo has some video airchecks of K&K if I'm not mistaken.

Huh?

We actually only have a pair of 'scoped KWSS airchecks on the museum website:

http://www.bayarearadio.org/audio/kwss/

One was provided by the great Tim Anthony (who also recorded the legal disclaimer heard before the 'checks), while the other -- featuring my hero John Mack Flanagan along with Barry Beck -- was donated by George Junak of California Aircheck.

If my close personal friend Tom Richard would consider contributing his KWSS/John Mack recordings, I'll get 'em online right away!

Anybody got any Kelly & Kline?

You have any KISS AM 990 concord airchecks of the 60's 70's to put online, but I do have the final KISS sign off program before they went spanish.

The only 1960s KKIS audio we have is from Bill Plummer, who worked there for many years:

http://www.bayarearadio.org/stn_photos/kkis_bill-plummer_march-1967.shtml

...Although we have some other interesting items from K-KIS from that era, including:

http://www.bayarearadio.org/surveys/kkis/kkis_top-33-survey_jan-3-1967.shtml

If you have any audio from K-KIS (or any other station) that you'd like to contribute -- and this goes out to apco25 and anyone else -- pleeeeeease get in touch with me by clicking on the "contact" link at the bottom of any page on the museum website!
