KWSX picking up Stockton Thunder games again

Release is attached...KWSK 1280 will carry about 52 games in the 2010-2011 season..good news for Thunder fans after KSTN went dark.


STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, a two-time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," has renewed a working agreement with 1280 AM KWSX as the official radio flagship partner of the Thunder. Additionally, all Thunder games will be available for viewing and listening online via AmericaOne, serving as the official broadband broadcast provider of the ECHL in 2010-11.

The Thunder and 1280 AM KWSX continue a partnership to broadcast up to 52 regular season road games and additional road Kelly Cup Playoff games for the 2010-11 season. The broadcasts aired in their entirety will begin 15 minutes prior to the opening face-off with the "Thunder Forecast" pre-game show. KWSX, Stockton's News/Talk station featuring "Armstrong and Getty" in the morning, is a growing leader in live Stockton sports coverage, additionally serving as the radio play-by-play home of Stockton Ports minor league baseball and Pacific athletics.

Mike Benton returns for his sixth season of Thunder play-by-play. Benton has broadcast every game but one in the team's five-year history, and has been selected three times for the ECHL All-Star Game radio broadcast. His work includes webcast color commentary and rink side reporting for the 2010 Vancouver Canucks YoungStars Tournament and contributing reports for the San Jose Sharks and Edmonton Oilers official websites.

Derek Eisler, entering his fifth season of Thunder radio color commentary, previously served as Head Coach of the China Sharks of the Asian League from 2007-09 and helped guide the NHL's San Jose Sharks to their first two Stanley Cup Playoff berths in 1994 and 1995, serving as an assistant coach on Kevin Constantine's staff. He continues to ser ve at the grassroots level as a coach for numerous hockey camps across the Central Valley and Bay Area, including at Sharks Ice at San Jose.

Cam Gore, a native of Toronto, Ontario, enters his second season in the Thunder radio booth as color commentator for select games. He additionally serves as an online beat reporter for Sharks coverage at www.prohockeynews.com and contributes with on-air and online NHL reports for the Chris Townsend radio show, heard throughout the Bay Area.

Owned and operated by Clear Channel Communications, KWSX is a 1,000 watt station with a signal that can be heard throughout the San Joaquin County, including areas such as Stockton, Lodi, Manteca, Tracy and stretching as far west as Livermore, where many Thunder supporters reside and conduct business.
