KWTX Newstalk 1230

Hundreds of Clear Channel employees, including Shane Warner, were laid-off a few of weeks ago. According to reports, the decisions were made at the corporate level. Nobody in Waco had a say in the matter.

Sales were likely a bigger issue than ratings. Lots of PSAs (instead of spots) on 1230.

Ratings, overall, were decent but limited. In Waco, Rush and Hannity can be heard on both 1230 and on WBAP. WBAP wins that battle from 11am-5pm. Mark Davis also beats Glenn Beck from 9-11:00.

1230 was strongest during Shane's morning show and with Michael Savage from 5-8p. So, losing Shane will certainly have a negative impact on the station.

It's also worth noting that Waco has at least four additional spoken word stations including KBCT-FM, KWBU-FM (NPR), KBBW-AM (religious), KRZI (sports).
