Just wondering, why Clear Channel never gave this station a name? I think "Now" would be a good time to do so. As in "Radio Now 97-5".... It would be the first station in Texas with that name. Thoughts?....

It's been 97-5 FM for at least two decades now and well before Clear Channel got it. Why change it when it's working? That's probably the logic Clear Channel's using, too.

What's in a name? I've heard "Kiss" used for everything from Top 40 to soft rock to active rock. Mix is AC and Top 40. And 93Q doesn't say anything about the format. 97-5 focuses on the dial position and it works for them.

Gives it some kind of identity. "97.5FM" is boring. People will remember a name more than call letters.

And every study there is shows that people remember dial position way more than names or call letters.

What's the point in fixing what isn't broken?

The only thing worse than changing 97.5's imaging would be a re-branding of "WACO 100."

Re-name/brand/whatever KWTX? You might as well drop the KLBJ call in Austin or WFAA in Dallas...those calls are strongly identified with that market and are an integral part of the station's identity. I can't think of anything worse an owner could do, short of shutting off the power! ;D

I agree. Dial position is more important than anything. I can't tell you how many times, I've been told by folks they listen to 1070 and then mention in the same breath the wrong call letters, especially when our call letters are easily confused with another in the market.

In your case, how many times has 1070's call letters changed over the years? KENR, KRBE......I don't even know what the call letters are now.

I guess I'm by myself on this one. Cool! I love being different from the rest of the crowd.
