KWWL WX

With less than a week to go for Ian, I see Eileen Loan has been hired. Is she his replacement? Anyone heard where Ian is going?

There has been no official word on his replacement. It certainly makes you wonder is Jeff Kennedy or Mark Schnackenberg is moving up. I can't imagine an expansion of the weather team is in the works -- especially in light of all the other cuts. Then again...who knows?

Eileen hasn't really been "hired" if you think back to last summer Eileen was working some weekends, she's freelance for kwwl and just works as needed. Many rumors are out there as to where he's going anywhere from Chicago to Minneapolis to Detroit....all the rumors will be put to rest friday night when he anounces where he's going. At any rate it's a good move up for him...

Good work withfrequency....he anounced tonight as well, I knew quite awhile back but had to keep quiet, loved hearing the tons of rumors going around...at any rate it's a huge jump from market 88 to 13...

Speaking of KWWL...

Did anyone watch ER a week and a half ago (like November 10)? In the middle of a serious part of the program, there was a 3-4 second flash to the KWWL studio, in which a young man was sitting at the desk reading a book. It was so hilarious. Still, they are so much better than KGAN. At least they come in!!!

Ron Steele also just called North Liberty "West Liberty". Obviously, West Liberty and Coralville wouldn't be fighting over land annexation. Seriously, that was funny.

Yeah that'd be camera checks for the 10pm show...thats a pretty bad thing to mess up but it's happened before this...

I wasn't paying attention to which sportscaster was on KCRG tonight (listening rather than watching), but he referred to Matt Fields as Mark Fields. It's Matt, for crying out loud! He was a 2-time state champion and 4-time qualifier for North Cedar. Any decent sportscaster in Iowa ought to know that. Seriously, local TV is going downhill. Long live radio and the mighty double-J.

Eileen Loan is pretty weak. KWWL now has that small market look once again. Nice big city graphics, small market on-air talent in their weather dep't. Just don't bring Craig Johnson back. Sleepy.

" Just don't bring Craig Johnson back. Sleepy."
Yeah, Craig Johnson and Dave Towne both suffer from working with Conrad Johnson at channel 2 back in the 70s. Unfortunately Conrad taught them to take the weather seriously, professionally and not to sensationalize it, definitely not what you want in today's modern MTV generation news format. Thank God for the weather duck!!!
