KXAN and Time Warner (appologies for the TV topic on here)

what are everyones views on this whole time Warner and KXAN mess ? I have family and freinds who liver down there and are switching to other cable providers, Direct TV or Dish Network. I know that KSAT in San Antonio has been having the same problem as well. Just curious as to what everones views and points are

My view is that the stations are greedy and Time-Warner is right to refuse to overpay them. I appreciate T-W digging in its heels to keep my cable bill from going up. I don't want part of my cable bill to be feeding a new revenue stream for KSAT.

i last year suddenlink cable that serves pflugerville and georgetown was having the same problem with kxan. suddenlink replace kxan with kcen out of temple.(ch 6 nbc) kxan, i believe was off thier cablesystem for sometime (2-6 months) before returning to thier lineup. i don't know if kcen is still on suddenlink cable anymore.
we do have time warner cable.

This debate between KXAN and Time Warner makes both giant companies look bad. The views don't understand it or like it at all. Stop the bickering! You both sound like a divorcing mother and father toying with a child in the middle. You views will hate you both in the end.

Is there anyting the Texas Association of Broadcasters can do to save both of these giants from destroying the own images...?

What images? Why doesn't the cable giant give us more choice for our $$$? Why should I have to buy cable from them only and then pay for a bunch of channels that I'll never watch? Some cable systems offer 'ala carte' programming, where you only get the channels you pay for. SAT TV is the same, $$$ for channels you'll never watch unless you pass out infront of the set. And why can't we have more than one cable provider servicing our city? Competition lowers price and improves quality and service.

Totally agree about cable competition! BTW, as of this morning KXAN is off Time Warner Austin, but you sure hear a lot about it on the radio with TW and KXAN using the radio waves to slap each other back & forth. One has to wonder how much $$ they are both spending on radio ads. Is this same thing happening with KSAT 12?

Clearly KXAN will have to blink first. They are losing half of their audience for their local programming which means they will ostensibly lose half of their ad revenue also. The network programs can be gotten online (which TW has been very happy to point out)...

Well, it's not just KXAN. Isn't LIN pulling this same stunt with about 11 other stations across the country?

I remember reading this morning that basically, TWC trades out promotional considerations for the right to carry signals here in Austin. Now LIN wants hard cash up front. TWC says no.

May they both roast...both TWC with it's late 90s cable system and LIN with it's pixelated, second rate HD (though STILL not as bad as KVUE's).
