KXAS Ch 5 News get new graphics?

Seeing something different tonight on Ch 5.. new cleaner simpler graphics, ID logo time-temp etc. I hope this stays. I never understood what the ice cream cone-shaped thing laying on its side was supposed to represent.

It was meant to be one of the "feathers" of the NBC peacock. I agree that the new graphics are much easier on the eyes.

I finally got to see it at 6p yesterday. Much better, although I noticed during the weather there was no barometer reading--first time for that, IIRR. (Not that the barometer is the most anticipated part of a weather report, but I wonder what Harold Taft would think) The graphics seem much more readable. Not sure if it's just due to the different font, or that the lettering is bigger. The Ch.5 logo is slightly different, no more red/blue whatever behind the '5' for the first time since the early-mid 1980s.

The set has been changed also, and looks better IMO. Wonder if they'll get to take this set with them when they make their historic move, or if they'll change it again after the move.

Although it's the opposite of what many might have expected, cleaner and simpler graphics seem to be the trend as they look better and bolder in HD. On air talent is also being encouraged to wear more solid jewel tone colors, as those really pop in HD.

Did the new graphics coincide with KXAS' move to their Centerport studios from Broadcast Hill? Because I also noticed a new set to go along with the graphics.
