KXBJ El Campo files for Directional antenna change

KXBJ El Campo part of the KSBJ net work filed to change to a directional antenna system, which reduces their coverage and results in a lumpy simi Omni pattern, and they lose Victoria coverage, What are they up to ? This seems to be more that a simple antenna change, What is the Big picture. they are spending a lot of money on this seemingly unnecessary expense. not something non profits or for profits do with out a pay back some where down the line.

This got discussed in another thread (perhaps those posts should be moved into this one) but I notice there is a slight change in location. New tower going up or just an error in the coordinate info?

There is a proposed 96.9 translator in the Med Center area that, if approved, will cause problems for KXBJ in the SW part of the market.

Baffling, simply baffling. There has to be some type of compensation heading towards KSBJ to inspire this, or....there's another acquisition forth coming. What I'm seeing on paper, will leave a bit of a whole between the coverage areas of KXBJ and KSBJ, and the two already compliment each other far less than Cox's Eagle duo at the high end of the dial do.

They couldn't be thinking of retooling 99-5 as a fill in signal between the two, could they? Is there room for an upgrade with KROY next door and just down the highway?

99.5 is already a super translator, I get pretty decent reception all the way up in Cypress. With a little more antenna height and/or power, they could really get out!

The KXBJ app states they are just correcting the coordinates and height to what the tower actually is. They also seem to state their antenna has been discovered to be very directional and therefore are listing it as such with a correct pattern listed.
