KXBT adds afternoon drive talent

KXBT 98.9FM WELCOMES ANDI MCKAY TO AFTERNOON DRIVE
AUSTIN, TX (May 8, 2012) – Austin’s fastest growing radio station, KXBT-FM – Austin’s Greatest Hits – welcomes Andi McKay to the station’s on-air line-up. Andi will be hosting Afternoon Drive, weekdays from 3:00pm to 7:00pm.
Andi began her career in Detroit, Michigan and has worked both on-air and as a Program Director in Lansing and Saginaw. In 1991, Andi was offered a position as an MTV “VJ” but declined the offer and moved to Toledo, Ohio where she continued her radio career and worked as a reporter and weathercaster on both the NBC and ABC affiliates for the next 16 years. Andi has 2 children who still reside in Toledo and attend college there.
Regarding her new role, Andi says, “I’ve always wanted to be a Texan, and I love music, so Austin was the perfect choice for me. I also grew up listening to the music that we play on 98.9, so I couldn’t be more comfortable.”
“We’re very fortunate to have found someone with Andi’s credentials to host our very important afternoon drive daypart. Andi not only has a great voice and on-air delivery, but her extensive musical knowledge adds a wonderful dimension to her show’s content,” said Jeff Wolf, Program Director, KXBT 98.9FM, Austin’s Greatest Hits.

Good to see they are getting more local, is it still Satellite Feed in some times of the day?

tom kent mon-fri 7pm-12am, saturday morn ( living in the 80's) 6-10 or 11am , sunday morn ( my 70's) 7am-12pm scott shannon true oldies 12am-6am sun-sat and 7pm sunday. disco on sat 9pm-1am

I got a message from Andi McKay-- herself-- and she tells me she is "live" on 98.9. She also told me not to believe what I read on the web regarding her voice-tracking in Toledo. Apparently she busted her buns doing those shifts and feels hurt that some people think the only way she did it all was voice-tracking.

That's a good, positive thing. Andi sounds good, especially given she hasn't been on here that long, on a station that's almost unknown.

Unfortunately, some of the tunes she played yesterday during my drive home (5-5:45) sounded like hell...basically like they were over compressed, audio running too hot, that kind of thing. Apologies for not having more specifics, if I hear it again I'll post with better info.
