KXEG 1280 & K241CS 96.1

Stephen Sloan, the bankruptcy receiver for KXEG and K241CS filed with the FCC yesterday that they were both back on the air at 1280 KHZ and 96.1 MHZ. Can anyone pick they up? Curious what programming they are running on the stations now. Supposedly on from the Phoenix racetrack with 600 watts with the AM. I can't pick them up in north Phoenix.

Nuthin' yet modulating the amplitude of 12~Eighty here at the Buckeye Media Hut. That 195 ft long wire in the parking lot of PIR should allow KXEG to be heard in North Phoenix, but not at night as they've filed for daytime only temporary service. The receiver has located a buyer, so it'll be a guessing game as to whether or not the sales price exceeds $100k.

Ministerios El Sembrador is buying all sorts of stations like gangbusters—Salt Lake, Denver, and even into the Chicago area. Phoenix would be a natural next step.

I heard the 96.1 translator on the air today, and it sounded like they're running conservative Christian programming (like it had been when it was KXEG before).

Are they sure they want to compete with La Familia 740 for the Spanish-speaking Catholic audience?

The value lies in the attached translator, which covers central Phoenix and the west side pretty well. Some AM only Bible thumping outfit might want KXEG for a simulcast that would get their existing station on FM. VCY might even want it to augment 88~Three, which is not on evenings and overnights due to its shared frequency arrangement.
