kxep on satallite?

Ok I admit I've been under a rock for a long time, and since coming from underneath said rock when did KXEP start broadcasting on the ku band of Galaxy 18? Has anyone heard the broadcast on satellite? Nice, really clean. But it's not 24/7,Maybe I'm not aligned right? 36' dish.
Just got a FTA dish (free to air) lots of interesting stuff on there. Novelty item though.
Also UWTV...don't know if that one belongs to the dogs but how many U of W's are there?.Wisconsin,Wyoming? That channel will not come in though (t.v)
Royalties must be enormous. Web, air, and satellite. But no Direct TV or Dish.

Re: KEXP 90.3 on satellite?

Okay, this is an odd post.

My thought is that this is how KEXP gets its audio to WNYE Radio in New York.

To the poster, I'm not sure why KEXP isn't replying to you but maybe your e-mail is hitting their spam filter. UW TV is from the University of Washington and is carried on Dish Network as well.

KEXP has been on the satellite a long time- first on Galaxy 10 and then on Galaxy 18 (same orbital slot). This was their delivery system to KXOT, but they were on satellite for a while before KXOT signed on. I think it is on 24/7. I sometimes listen to them in the morning when I'm in the TV satellite truck and am doing a microwave shot. I would be surprised if any extra royalties had to be paid for this broadcast. I think they can call this a backhaul feed or an STL feed and not pay royalties.

KEXP is using the University of Washington pipe. That means no charge as KEXP is licensed to the Dawgs. At least that's what my understanding is.
