The local morning "cut-ins" have changed . Tony Williams is gone and replaced by Former "Music of your Life" announcer Hal Mayfield from the first KAAM that carried the format.Hal pauses so much it sounds like he is either falling asleep or dying. He's probably a nice guy,but surely Ken Jones could get someone in the mornings with more energy. If you need to set your clock, watch etc. Listen to the station . If you hear The Beatles " All my Loving" it's :23 after the hour. The Surfaris "Surfer Joe" is played at :34 after.

May I reply?

Hal gave me a job when I needed one, and he knows more about radio than anyone I know.

Hal, Lou, Greg and Ken took a chance with me. They gave me complete freedom on the air -- something I have craved since I left WKY in August 1977.

Danny Williams gave me complete freedom at WKY.

Hal gave me a second chance ... and complete freedom.

In November, I played 20 consecutive minutes of Perry Como Christmas music.

The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Newbeats ... the offbeat ... my surfer music ... anything ...

No one said a word.

KXEZ is a little gem -- the tiny, but mighty ... 92 point one.

Check out the Sunday shows at www.KXEZ.com ...

"Rewind Radio" with Tim and Keith, "The Flip Side" with Leigh, and "The British Invasion" with Nigel.

Try it ... you love it!!!!

guess my secret identity is out :)

call me Clark

as in Kent.

Love the Beatles ... "All My Lovin"

How 'bout you?

Sing it ...

"Close your eyes and I'll kiss you
Tomorrow I'll miss you
Remember I'll always be true
And then while I'm away
I'll write home every day
And I'll send all my loving to you

I'll pretend that I'm kissing
The lips I am missing
And hope that my dreams will come true
And then while I'm away
I'll write home every day
And I'll send all my loving to you

All my loving I will send to you
All my loving, darling I'll be true

All my loving I will send to you
All my loving, darling I'll be true"

That that is, is.

That, that is not, is not.

Is that it?

It is.

:)

Merry Christmas!!!

Re: May I reply?

Here is another voice in support of KXEZ. Everybody decries voice-tracking, consolidation, big group ownership. But when somebody tries something that is really local they get nothing but criticism. That, or somebody moans that if KXEZ weren't there that "just one more country station" out west could increase power. As if country were the "holy grail" format - a lot of us could care less. KXEZ is the only "oldies" station in the area, unless you count KLUV which is really more of a 60's and 70's station, or "mighty 1190".

KXEZ has fixed all of the technical problems that plagued them for almost 2 years, and seems to do a decent job of covering most of Collin county where all the growth is. They have a nice little niche now, and I can only see it growing. And - by giving local talent a chance, they are growing themselves and the talent. As the years go by, both will become more and more "professional sounding" - if that is actually a good thing. A few rough edges on a station make it sound more "real" to me. Not some guy on a workstation coming in for 30 minutes on a workstation doing his 4 hour shift - timing the elements of his show to the millisecond, doing ten takes until his voice is just right.

Let me Clarify something. I have nothing against Hal Mayfield. I am sure he is abundant in knowledge of radio. So why is he doing the mornings instead of you? The Jones Network has a better selection of music than KLUV plus fewer spots (Thank God). The sunday shows are interesting, the British Promo is not. 92.1 has potential and with the urban sprawl from Frisco eastward,it should make some $$.

Re: May I reply?

The Sunday after Thanksgiving, I resigned for personal reasons.

Thanks!

"I Can See Clearly Now" -- Johnny Nash

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I’ve been prayin?for
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

Look all around, there’s nothin?but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin?but blue skies

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

And all this time I've known you as Bruce, Batman. How's stuff over at the cave. Happy Holidays to you and the crew!

MADMAN ... welcome,

Alfred retired.

So I have retired to my Fortress of Solitude now :)

My friends call me Tony ... or some variation ...

By the way, I thought Bruce Carter's comments were right on the money. Exactly right.
