Sometimes the right thing happens for the wrong reason.

I totally agree! The question is when does the trend arrive in NY, LA and Chicago? ???
Sometimes, the right thing happens for the wrong reason.
The RIGHT reason for News/Talk/Sports programming to be on FM is because some 80% of Time Spent Listening is on FM.
Another reason we'll see non-music programming go there is to cut costs.
"Music radio" is dang-near an oxymoron in the iPod/Pandora/etc. era.
Debt-hobbled mega-owners are barking at local market managers to increase profitability.
Which they can do by taking-a-jukebox-station's-expense-to ZERO by simulcasting.
Or flipping to a start-up talker, with lots-less ASCAP/BMI expense, and maybe one live daypart.
In many markets, there's still enough unclaimed A-list syndicated longform to put-together a station.
NOT THAT that's-all-there-is-to-it...as any consultant would be quick-to-remind.
For my white paper on FM talk, send an Email -- even a blank one will do -- to

Moments later, the robot will deliver.
