KXNT Demos

I just read on the SF board that KGO/San Francisco, a legendary news talk station that has been #1 12+ for close to 30 years, is now down to #12 25-54.

A totally different situation here in Las Vegas. KXNT is #5 25-54. KXNT is not respected (and certainly not considered legendary) the way KGO in SF is, yet KXNT is in the top 5 25-54 , while KGO (as is the case with many many AM talkers nationally) is no longer in the top 10 25-54. KXNT should be given props for finding a way to stay viable in the money demos.

The surprising 25-54 success of KXNT (although they will be dropping off a big April next trend) makes me wonder if CBS should consider moving, simulcasting, or partially simulcasting KXNT on 107.5 FM. If they found a formula for 25-54 success on AM, just imagine how good they could do on FM where there is so much more 25-54 cume floating around.

I know that 107.5 is moving towards Hot Talk with the addition of Opie and Anthony, maybe they will go all the way and become a FREE FM. Yet the irony is they would probably do better 25-54 as a mainstream talker KXNT-FM than a FREE FM hot talker.
