KXNT

I noticed that KXNT has new sweepers and music beds. It's sounds gentler and more low key, it doesn't hit you over the head like the old production elements. They also changed their liners. Their new positioning statement is "voices you know-news you trust". They either changed their voice guy or had him tone it down to the point where he sounds like a different person.

I believe this is the first time KXNT changed these elements since they started in 1996..back in the Sam Greenfield era. I was starting to think KXNT was going to run their beds forever, or at least for as long as the old KDWN ran their "720 K-DAWN" jingles. The changes have freshened up the station.

Just noticed it this afternoon and sounds pretty good.

They call themselves "News Radio 840", and put the morning news guy (Cory?) in PM drive today. Is that permanent? Does the News Radio slogan hurt K-dawn any more than they are already? Will Heidi have to buy time on KLAV to get her legion of fan(s) to hear her program?

Seriously, it's good to hear as Jay said, a freshened up station.

Since kdwn has not done that well so far with their news format, I wonder why kxnt has switch to it?

At 6am on Sunday they dumped the top of the hour news for an informercial, and kdwn had the Best of the "top Local Host" but they didn't edit out the traffic report.. so they were talking about traffic problems from the week before. The TV seems to do better news than radio in Vegas, like all the shootings that happened last week.
