KXOJ: Missing Songs. Help please!

Our PD asked me to post this. Hope y'all can help. Thanks!

Hey gang,

Sorry to send an attachment to everyone, but it's the easiest way. This past week we began a feature called the "80's & 90's at Noon" that features some of the really big iconic songs of "the decades that defined Christian music". Now, I would not recommend this for everyone, but being around 32 years I decided that we needed to embrace our heritage and use it in a positive way rather than run from it and try to be too hip for the room.
Response has been ridiculous. The hour features a 4:1 ration of 90's music to 80's with most of it coming from that explosion of the mid 90's with the vocal groups, the emergence of DC Talk, Jars, 4 Him, POG, Avalon, PC&D etc..

and of course early works of Michael, Amy and Steven.

Once an hour we have the "closset classic" a quite possibly embarrassing trip down memory lane :) In this slot we ham it up with Carman, Mylon, one hit wonders etc. Again not for most, but since the station actually played these songs new, we get away with it.

Which leads me to my request! The attached list of songs are ones that we just cannot find. We've exhausted our thousands of cd's and somehow these have walked away over the years. If you happen to have any of these songs and it's convenient to send them, I have a dropbox set up at http://www.radioservers.com/cgi-bin/dropbox/dropbox.cgi where you can upload up to 5 at a time, or contact me off forum for other arrangements.

Bob

Wow, posting a staff memo (if it is, in fact, legit) is awfully bitter.

I only felt it appropriate that I respond...even I'm not THAT bitter :)

Dude-you need to find a new job. KXOJBOB's gonna show you just how Christian that place can be when he kicks you out on your a**!

bitterlikeyou: KXOJDJ won't get fired; several on the board have proved several times that he does not, in fact, work for or represent in any way, KXOJ. At best, he may be a disgruntled former employee.

However, with this latest stunt, he may have bitten off more than he can chew.

...And that's all I have to say about that.

Thanks for the update, Gump! I just assumed he did. Funny how people on this board misrepresent themselves.

;)

This is not an internal memo...it was a post on an email forum through Bob's website, programdirector.com (great site btw). :) Everyone on this list received the same email within the industry. kxojdj forgot to edit out the last line about contacting Bob off the forum to make it seem like an internal memo or that Bob ACTUALLY asked him/or her to post this.

You should really hire this guy/girl, Bob. He's been so loyal over the years!!! ;)

You should really hire this guy/girl, Bob. He's been so loyal over the years!!! Wink

O.K., that about got me snorting milk out of my nose... an impressive feat, considering that I'm not drinking milk!

...although I wish I was... :'(

Actually it's programdirector.net and the site is not very impressive but the site is only a shell for the forums which are all by e-mail. Those are impressive, but only because of the 800+ members we have over the various forum categories. It's been very useful to me and many others for some 12+ years now.

What's funny is that the listserv can track who opens their mail/forwards it etc. So if for example a member lived in Houston and then forwarded it to someone in Tulsa and the Tulsa recipient then opened the mail, it would create a report of both actions.

Gotta love technology!

Bob

P.S. No they did not provide an exaxt copy of the original e-mail and yes we do air an "oldies hour" at noon and the gist of the e-mail was correct. We also found all the songs thanks to the forum members!

Hm...

Now, I'm just thinking out loud, here...

But it sounds to me like maybe it ought to be possible to identify KXODJ, & perhaps put a stop to his pranks.

Or take legal action, whichever you prefer.

But that's just me talking, of course... your mileage may vary.
