Long story short, the ratings were anemic, and it was sold. The new owners wanted something that would do better. So, they flipped it to 97 FM The Rock, which was a copy of their sister station in Kansas City, KQRC.
I'm sure part of the story behind the poor ratings was that it didn't have the best signal in areas where its target audience lived. If it signed on in the last few years, it might have done better because St. Louis now has quite-a-few minority suburbs in North County, like Jennings. Other North County cities like St. Ann and Florissant are getting a larger minority population everyday.
