KXPR 88.9 Looking to Move Transmitter North

Since the frequency swap last September between KXPR and KXJZ, many people in Sacramento's northeastern suburbs have been having difficulty receiving KXPR's classical music broadcasts.

KXPR's transmitter is currently in Walnut Grove to prevent interference to viewers of KVIE Channel 6. Capital Public Radio (CSUS) is requesting the FCC to allow them to move the KXPR transmitter to a location at the Sacramento Army Depot. KXPR, if approved, would like to begin broadcasting from that location in the third quarter of 2008. Attached to the application, is an agreement signed by KVIE General Manager David Hosley and Capital Public Radio General Manager Rick Eytcheson stating that Capital Public Radio willl address any interference issues to KVIE caused by KXPR prior to KVIE's turning off of it's analog signal oin February of 2009.

To accomodate the move, Capital Public Radio (CSUS) is applying to downgrade KXJS/ Sutter to a Class A with a directional antenna.
