KXRX last day

I have cds of the last day of KXRX in broadcast quality condition, not much music though. These went around 7 or 8 years ago. I understand Robin gets pissed if people pass this around but what the hay. It's been a long time Rob. Lighten up. I got a copy of this stuff made before she put a stop to it from the seller (not me). The seller lasted about 3 days. Glad to post it somewhere if I knew how. Crow and West's last stuff too, right up to the end too. Really cool. Any ideas?

WhatEVER!! People aircheck all the time and even SHARE them all the time without her permission! My goodness...even the BROADCAST was put out there with the premise that people might actually LISTEN to it (and very likely, since it was last day, RECORD it). I'd suggest a great big SHRUG about her attitude and share all you want! I'm VERY interested in what you have!!!

Funny.

Most jocks I know are usually flattered their old airchecks are circulating around.

I say "most" and "usually" because a few contend one particular aircheck or another was made on one of the worst days of their lives and maybe rightfully so.

I can definitely see it in Robin's case.

But there were hundreds, if not thousands of cassette tapes made by Robin & Maynard fans at some part in that show or another that day (usually WITH music.) And they've already been copied and circulating around the last 17 years. It was one of the worst days of their lives too. So they're already out there. There's really no point in arguing against it anymore.

We'll never see another radio station like KXRX again (or at least not at the rate things are going.) So we need ALL the memories we can get........

Heh, I remember listening to R&M's last day as well. I was in my car and was taking a test for state government and I was waiting until the last possible moment to actually get out of my car. I didn't get that job. Maybe I should have kept listening. ;)

How much stuff are you talking about? Megaupload.com and rapidshare.com are two places that let you host files. You could also chop some up and put them on YouTube. I have about the last 20 minutes of R&M.

Robin wasn't happy that the materiel was being sold on eBay, and she was not getting a cut of it. She claimed it was all copy written, but I sort of find that a little hard to believe.

Let's see Rob. I believe I paid 15 bucks for the seven cds which was the cost of the actual cds with no regards for the content. What a money maker that was for you. No wonder you're in Montana on a farm. It seems to me she and John and the other talents on KXRX could have (and still can) make money on these wonderful airchecks. They are really great memories to most of us Seattle radio fans (7 or 8 Hours) and it's really cool stuff. I guess I don't understand why they don't pass it along. Enough said.

Hey Placebo,

I'll check it out and put it out there if I can. It's too good to let it go. You'll split a gut and maybe have a wet eye too.

I'd pay to be able to download those last couple of days. I've worn out my "Robin & Maynard Remembered" cassette tapes of those last couple of shows. I'd also pay to download a lot of their old "bits" and clips. I don't understand why they don't put them up on iTunes or somewhere. Help pay for some new barbed wire for the MT Ranch or something. I miss those guys every day. And now that my kids are old enough to have appreciated them if they were still around I wish every day that they were back on air.

Trust me, it's not copyRIGHTED. It's public domain. Although if you had the music (the whole songs) on there, you could run into a copyRIGHT issue. I recently uploaded a Buzz Barr tribute to Youtube and got a copyRIGHT notification from EMI b/c it contained a good portion of a Beatles song.

As a Public Service--

You can upload to my server and I will post mp3 versions of what you send ... --- sharing the aircheck with the public.

Hey Jason,

Cool website!! I can't seem to get your e-mail to work as it bounced. Please verify as I'm having issues with the ftp.

Thanks, K

Anyone... correct me if you think I'm wrong, but I'm not sure anything has ever been copyWRITTEN. I know things have been copyRIGHTED. Am I right or am I right?

They're still there. But KXRX Walla Walla doesn't have anywhere NEAR the legacy KXRX Seattle has. They were the ones who made those call letters legendary (even though they were parked at an AM station at San Jose long before they came to Seattle.....)

The KJET letters are now in Aberdeen, but the legacy of KJET Seattle still echos. Same with KMET in southern California. Totally different station, but people will always remember where the letters were and the stations that made history....

This is what happens when you take on a legendary set of rock station call letters - you'll NEVER live down their history......

That's just the way it is.......
