KXT Website goes live

I truly enjoyed wxpn when I was working in Philadelphia in years past. I assume KXT will be similar. I'm really looking forward to this! ;D
I've wondered why no one has tried a commercial station like KINK (Portaland, OR) in Dallas. I think it would have enough of an audience to do okay initially and then grow..but then again maybe "all nascar" is the way to go in DFW. ;D

KINK has the advantage of legacy -- they've been adult alternative since the 1970s, which is to say that they've been around longer than the format has had a name! And for whatever reason, legacy seems to make a substantial difference in this particular format.

Aside from that, DFW and Portland are demographically dissimilar markets, which means that what works in one area may not work in the other.

without additional comments - from the KXT web site Q&A section:

"Why didn’t KERA just offer music on a HD channel?

HD radio content is currently received by such a limited number of radios that we would not be able to aggregate a sufficient audience to make it worthwhile. Terrestrial, or traditional, radio is a much better way for KERA to provide valuable, mission-related content to our community. We do realize that many listeners may want to listen to KXT via the Web, and we plan to make that possible right from the start."

What's it to you? We don't have a station like this anywhere. You better be glad we'll have it, I am.
