KXXR Begins Airing Syndicated "Greg Beharrell Show" 7 PM-Midnight

...unfortunately.

There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of information about it yet. I originally saw it posted to the 93X Twitter, and the only mention of it on their website is in the "jocks" tab.

Really sucks seeing more syndicated garbage. I always switched from KQRS to 93X at 10 PM because I didn't care for their syndicated "Steve Gorman Rocks" show. Looks like I can't use 93X now either...

For a long time, it seemed that 93X/KQRS would escape the "Cumulus" mantra of "run things as cheaply as possible". The only live and local shifts they have left now are mornings and afternoon drives. I know Middays and Overnights have been voice-tracked for some time. At least we still get HAMS and not "Free Beer and Hot Wings" or some other drivel.....

Aw man, that sucks. Yeah, I've noticed a few times that I've texted a song request to 93X just to hear my name used to request a different song a couple days later:
Do you know if KQRS is voice-tracked at all?

Is your name so unique that the days-later request might have been from another person with the same name?

Logic says that there may be more requests than songs that can be played in an hour or a show. Some won't get played.

Thanks for the response. My username has my real name, Roman. While that name isn't incredibly unique, I can't imagine there's another Roman in the town I used when the population is ~20k. I'm sure it's possible but it seems unlikely to me...

When I worked in radio, I only worked at one station that truly played requests. At one station, even our "All Request Lunch Hour" didn't play requests. We did exactly what you encountered. If someone called and said, "Could you play a song for me?", we would edit everything else but their name out, play that snippet of their call, and play a completely different song. One time, I had a lady call and ask for a Maroon 5 song. I had a different one coming up, and I played her call back with her just saying, "Could you play Maroon 5?"

I've worked at a few stations that have used requests to try to determine how popular current songs were with our audiences. There are better ways to do that, but, in smaller markets, you don't have the budget to do tons of research, and you have people who you know are your listeners telling you what they like.
