KYA ... Are we all saints?
Hello again, this is radio news person chiming in on the the KYA story........
Radio is about creating an illusion and Chris or Vern has certainaly created one with KYA on line.
My question is do you feel that the powers at Bonneville are saints? What about all the executives, middle managers and consultants at Infinity, now CBS? We've seen many comments on this board.
Everyone has some sort of a vice and in this case Vern White also makes himself known as the Big Fat Chris Edwards, a person who is a figment of his own imagination.
Chris, I mean Vern took me out to lunch at the NAB in Las Vegas this spring. We had a great opportunity to talk about the format and the propects for its future on the internet as well as on the air in San Francisco. My feelings is that it could work well on air as part of a full-service station that makes itself part of the the community.
As an internet station it can certainally have a long future ahead. The music format and personalty of the on-line station can evolve with time as it should.
At this point has Chris Vern White been beat up enough? He has launched a great sounding internet station and we must admit that he did tell us a good story and got our attention.
Yes I was confused for a while. I had heard that Bob Harlow former PD of KFRC had offered a Chris Edwards (who was a salesman there) the opportunity to host a Doo-Wop show on KFRC. Harlow had also offered this show to Chris Kidd before KFRC changed formats.............speaking of name confusion.....
There is a Chris Kidd who is a news and trafffic reporter Saturday nights on KGO. He is not the Kidd, Chris who used to work in recent years at KSFM in Sacramento and is now in Philly.
My question, is KGO's Chris Kidd the same Chris Kidd who worked as a jock in the 70s at KROY and KNDE in Sacramento? Around that time of 1975 to 1977 other jocks at KROY inlcuded Christopher Lane, Russ the Moose Martin, Dean Goss and the Morning show was Uncle Bryon and T.N. Taneka. Roger W. Morgan was the PD. Sounds like some of these guys would be good for the new KYA!
That's my contribution to the subject of the the original KYA 1260, not to be confused with KOIT 1260.
