kya gone

Don't know if this should be on the internet board, I have been listening to KYA on the net for years, great presentation and music, Gary Mora did a fantastic job. Being from the east coast I had no idea what west coast stations were about but from what I heard on that site they were fantastic in the 60's. The bad news is they are gone, just disappeared does anyone know what happened or will they be back...

Like a few internet stations Covid is hurting these stations and the money just isn’t there. Earlier this year back in April SuperRadioUSA out of Minneapolis shut down and more recently an internet station from Cleveland. Internet radio is a tough business if you’re not IHeart, Entercom or any of the big corporate broadcasters. Most internet stations are lucky to get 20 or 30 listeners if that due to the amount of internet stations that are out there. There are thousands of internet stations available.

Not even the unreal Chris Edwards (Verne White) could keep Firebaugh's KYA(F) going. That license was yanked. As far as memories of the original KYA 12~Sixty/93~Three go, check out the Bay Area Radio Museum for some good stuff on "The Boss of the Bay" https://bayarearadio.org/stations#KYA
