KYAF (94.7 FM) Firebaugh

Is anyone here close enough to Firebaugh to know whether KYAF (94.7 FM, formerly KAJP) is actually on the air? The FCC shows it currently as a construction permit, but Verne White is streaming Oldies from the station's website, doing his impersonation of "Radio Legend Chris Edwards."

No -- I believe that the original authorization was granted around 1999, and the applicant ran into problems with the FCC (not having actual studios and using telephone poles as transmitter towers on another station he owned) back in 2003.

Verne White shows as the president of the licensee as of August 2006.

Just to Clarify KYAF 94.7 FM is on the air and has been for years. Owned by Verne White AKA Central Valley Educational services INC. was operated as kajp prior and was only on the air 45 hrs per week until Aug 2006 in which the call letters were changed to KYAF and with 24 hr a day 7 days a week oldies format the same format that was put on the internet as www.kyaradio1.com in Jan 05 when Verne White Copywrited KYA and purchased the rights for the jingles .

KYAF (KYA) carries a large playlist boasting of 6000+ oldies
Kyaf also carries the legands of rock n roll program Saturday nights from 6-12pm PST. This program is hosted by Chris Edwards White ( one of many Djs using the Chris Edwards monicer) please note it is not hosted by Chris Bergoff who also calls himself Chris Edwards and is a radio time saleperson in San Francisco.
This legands show is rebroadcast from the KYA San Franciscio studios 415-366-7898 on Saturday from 3pm to 12mid pst to accomidate the east coast stations. The show is carried by numberous terrestrial radio stations across the country and sends two feeds one with network spots at :20 & :40 and one with music only for non comms.
