This as stated by Ex Kyno Jock is a branding like live 105
Just a remark about their new morning song . These guys were on in the LA Market for years, the show is good a good mix of music with little talk not all talk. This could very well be the best morning show in the Fresno market

You do not name the station, it's dial position, the personalities or anything else about the station or program that would make it listenable to others.

If you are talking about the Firebaugh FM and its translator, those do not really cover "Fresno" as they are each far off from the city itself.

Any more such posts and this thread will be ended, too.

Frank had said it appeared like posts were coming from insiders and not bonafide listeners. .something I always suspected.. and i'm guessing Frank has proof?

The translator 99.7 is in Central Fresno, but the signal is only clean for about a 3 mile radius, and doesn't cover South-East Fresno hardly at all because of Class B KIOO Porterville.

The Fresno translator can be heard all over Fresno and Clovis

"Fresno" the city is not a market. The radio market is the whole county, and only a tiny percentage can hear that translator with a usable signal. The Firebaugh (or wherever it moved to) station has a 70 dbu that covers about 8000 persons and the translator does about 80,000 persons... or less than 10% of the market with city grade coverage.

It's not named because it is the "Station That Shall Not Be Named" (STSNBN) as established in another closed thread. Interestingly enough, KABC in Los Angeles has WAY more threads about it than this station yet it is also an under performing station with serious signal problems. Not sure why one is favored over the other on here, but hey, it's not my place to decide what stays and what goes.

But I understand the interest and passion elicited by this thread. Having spent a number of years in Fresno, I remember the original incarnation of the STSNBN at 105.9, even worked there a couple of times. The station was a much beloved institution in Fresno. So when the morning personality and former program director of the 105.9 version of the STSNBN attempted to rekindle some of the magic of the past, people took note. When the station failed, in some people's eyes, to live up to it's heritage, people took note, and a great many took umbrage, whether it was with the host/programmer or management. The new morning show does indeed have LA roots, though to say that they were on the air there for years is a bit misleading. However, they are both good, talented broadcasters and I wish them much success. Sure would be nice to be able to have a discussion about their show.

In many markets there are stations with poor signals and low ratings that inspire passion and have an impact. KCSN in Los Angeles comes to mind. This particular forum is for radio in Central California. The STSNBN is a radio station in Central California. Not sure why the censoring of these threads is so important. My guess is that someone must have complained. Someone with "clout" maybe? Threatening legal action? Who knows? I don't. Just spit balling. All I do know is that i come here for the lively conversations, especially when the topic is something that I can relate to, like the STSNBN.

Have a great weekend.

Robnokshus06,

The problem is that some of the people posting are actually insiders who are pretending to be listeners.
I have no problem with someone promoting their station here ... just be honest and admit that you are associated with the station and not merely a listener.

Frank

What I've noticed is there have been a number of threads about this station in this group, and quite often the conversation turns to attacking other stations or owners in the market. I understand being passionate about your station, just like having school spirit, but I've seen some of these things devolve into a lot of negativity.

Yeah, that was kind of obvious! lol

You're absolutely right, of course. Much of the animosity in these threads regarding this station were in direct relation to the aforementioned poster who Frank has banned. Hopefully the conversation can resume with a bit more civility.

I would still like to know how the new morning show is doing/sounding.

Listening this morning for about twenty minutes, Crysta Garner is just irritating. Maybe it's the voice or that she's so out of touch with this market. But, is this show differerent than any other voice tracked show? Nah...

Is she still at Dash Radio?

Music this am didn't flow, which is pretty much SOP. Music seems to be the result of whatever hits one big dart-board.

I am sick of the rants about Vern. He is just a guy in the radio business like most of us. Frank is doing a good job. There is a lot of good posting on here. We need to all stay on track.
