KYAR 98.3

KYAR has a station in Gatesville, tx., which has a repeater supposedly in Lorena, which would place me inbetween the middle and outside band of coverage maps.

K267AI shows me to be on the outside bands of coverage, but comes in great. Can anyone explain this?
Also, how can they not be announcing IDs and simulcasting on different freqs?

BTW 98.3 comes in horribly mixing with spanish. But 101.3 comes in great.

They are probably using a Scala CL-FMRX/VRM log periodic FM Rx antenna at the translator site to pick up KYAR. Mounted about 60-100 feet up the tower it would certainly work great at receiving KYAR over the air. (If you hear a delay in the program audio between both stations, then they might be using an internet feed or something along those lines to send audio to the translator and that would be illegal)

As for the legal ID's...they need to be running one on KYAR but as far as K267AI goes they could be using an FSK to ID it. Some stations choose to run a legal id for translators and some just use FSK. Now if KYAR isn't airing a legal ID that states "KYAR - Gatesville" at the top of the hour then that station is not in compliance.

Yeah, but one is in gatesville with a transmitter in lorena on the same freq on 98.3, which is barely listenable and should come in great. another transmitter on 101.3 in moody, tx which is slightly delayed and shouldn't come in for me well, but come in crystal clear. Btw I've been listening to both, and neither are IDng at top of hour.

Btw lorena and moody are like 8-15 miles away from each other. Gatesville is like 35-40

From what I am seeing, the Lorena site is not a repeater. They have a construction permit to change city of license and move transmitter locations from Gatesville to Lorena. If Gatesville is still on the air, then they are probably just doing testing at the Lorena site (which is probably why it doesn't sound that great).

No idea why they aren't airing legal ID's.

Is this an Air 1 station? Usually they use IP over satellite to feed their stations and have local insertion for ID's, spots, promos, etc. If they are not airing the legal ID, something is not working on their end.

IP over sat? Interesting... Yes its air 1, and no... There are no station IDs, or spots, or commercials. Anything.

Correct...KYAR has a CP to move to Lorena. New coverage to Waco with those facilities:
