KYKX morning show

Word on the street is that KYKX is pulling the plug on Charlie O and TJ for a syndicated morning show very soon. It's too bad....they were just getting started. It was so nice to hear Tara Holley on the air again, she and Charlie really sounded good togather.

wonder what they're thinking about...Big D & Bubba and John Boy & Billy are already in the market. What other syndicated country AM Shows are there??? And it IIISSSSSSS a real shame some one less "live & local" AM show won't be on the air....Are there ANY local morngin shows left in Tyler/Longview besides KKUS???

If this is indeed true, this will be COD's second bite in the butt at the hands of the East Texas Radio Group. Remember he was morning co-host for a time at co-owned KOOI.

Charlie O's real job there is production director...plus he is still on the air at KKUS doing afternoons. I bet (if this is true) he appreciates that he has one less responsibility at the station. By the way...look for a new PD soon at KYKX. Word is they are about to have an "extreme station makeover."

"Extreme station makeover" you say?

Top 40?
Classic rock/hits?
Scandinavian death metal?

New PD?......I believe Brandon Michael is wearing that hat and has worked his self half to death. I really hope they don't pull the plug on him after all that hard work.

What a mess. KYKX was an outstanding radio station back when my buddy Ed Cearley ran the place 15-20 years ago.

The first piece of the Great Unraveling was when Longview got slapped into the same Arbitron market as Tyler--diminishing KYKX's dominance of the Longview market because of the population differential. The perception changed to that of being the "other" country station in Tyler-Longview.

Not the only station ever to get screwed by market manipulation, but certainly a textbook example.

I think idiots running the show and a subpar on-air product had more to do with the fall of KYKX. Isnt KNUE 100% voicetracked now? Hire GOOD people and let them do their jobs.

Mr. Q....I understand this is a board of opinion....but most of your personal comments are about people you don't even know or have had the pleasure or honor to work with. Just my 2 cents....have a good day!

Looks like the "Extreme Makeover" to KYKX has begun....brother Brandon Michael was let go on Friday. Brandon was a good guy and a damn good friend, hate to see it. I wish him well and he will be missed by all.

Well, it's Monday. Anything new on the "Extreme Makeover" Radio Edition?

Word on the street is the new syndicated morning show will kick off Tuesday and as far as who will do afternoon drive....I guess we will just have to tune in and find out. I still have some very good friends working there so I wish them all the best.

Am I to surmise the "extreme makeover" is personality-oriented and not a format change?

New afternoon guy was on today. JR somebody? Anyone know him?

I can tell you that listeners don't know what stations they are listening to. I received no less than four ANGRY phone calls this morning at KZQX. All complained that I had "ruined" their radio station. I was a little taken back by this, since we had done nothing different. In each case, they thought we were KYKX and they did not like the change on the morning show. I guess since both stations have a "K" and an "X" in the call letters, people call us, instead of them. Or maybe it is because it is listed as "East Texas Radio Group" in the phone book.

Since I am busy doing other things, I haven't heard the new KYKX morning show. I wish them well, but they do have a few people who are unhappy with the change.

My friends keep in mind that with any new satellite feed that there are bugs to be worked out. KYKX is trying to hammer those out this week so this program will run smoothly. I hope things will be resolved by Monday and they can start fresh.

Well folks the "New KYKX" is off and running....I must admit the morning show is not half bad. Opinions?

Did they spin the format wheel or is it still country?
