Maybe they got mixed up and meant KYKS. :)
 
There's GOTTA be a typo on that list. Whoever made placed the votes in must be done by some mastermind. Think of it as the radio version of the results of the 2000 Presidential Election --- RIGGED!!

Maybe that "award winning" Danny and Dru Show is finally catching on. First an article in BSCENE Magazine and now up for a Marconi.

Their morning show needs a lot of work? It can cure chronic insomnia,create a desire for a normal person to go deaf,kill weeds within a mile of the station,and if played on loud speakers in Lebanon, bring the Hezbollah to their knees.

Politics is playing a strong role here and I can not believe the Marconi awards has KYKX as a contender. Marconi is doing more than spinning in his grave,he's probably regreting he started radio.
 
Actually, KYKX is supposed to be on the list but it was intended to be in the category of "Station Most Likely to be Used as a Bad Example in Broadcasting Schools"
 
As would be expected, the KYKX/Marconi hoop-te-do was on the business page of the Longview newspaper today (07/23). Information KYKX spoon fed the paper stated, "Awards are given to radio stations and outstandsing on-air personalities to recognize excellence in radio." (Really, now)The story went on to say that KYKX is competing with stations in Denver, Milwaukee, Phoenix, and Los Angeles for the award.

Recognition such as that bestowed by the Marconi group is seen my many as industry internal back patting awards that mean little or nothing to the listening public. Most in the audience know nothing of Marconi and don't care, and further would probably react that Mr. Marconi really should come to town and help these people out with their "excellence.".

Previous posts have speculated that politics and other factors are in play here. No doubt that is the case since KYKX on-air performance surely is lacking. And if the Marconi Award carried that much weight and prestige, the list of contendors would contain many more heavy weight competitors.
 
There is an article in the latest R&R and I find it interesting that they have the nominees listed as
KYKX-FM/Longview, Texas as opposed to Tyler-Longview.

I wonder if they will let Marconi voters know that they dropped almost a full ratings point and are now tied for last place country station in the market 12+? Ahhh...yes what a year.
 
Paula is the only keeper in the bunch at KYKX. The rest of them could be put in the radio dumper and never missed.
 
Poor Marconi,rolling in his grave. I have noticed if you place speakers around your home and put on the dru show,fleas,ticks,roaches disappear!

Don't let a Longviewite see that. You're liable to be strung from the tallest available tree for the error of your ways.

Besides, Tyler doesn't, nor should, deserve the blame for that mess.
 
You haven't figured out that racket yet? They rotate stations. I've seen PD's take stations down the shitter and get nominated for station or pd of the year.
 
Paula Prince??? Oh geez, i worked with her!!!! That woman is craaaaazy!!!! She assaulted one of the jocks one day in a fit of rage. A big time backstabber!!!
 
Not saying, from my viewpoint, that it either happened or didn't. But did you witness this supposed "assault" or hear about it as station gossip, and was the incident one of verbal or physical "assault.' In all the turmoil that has wrecked KYKX there've been some awfully vicious rumors circulated that simply were proven to be not true.

If anyone assaulted Dru, there probably would be no doubt of the report's veracity.
