With KKUS 104.1 FM The Ranch in Tyler simulcasting on KFRO-AM Longview and an AM station in Marshall that the calls elude my fading memory tells me either they have the market for "Country Legends" or they don't know what to do with the AM stations. They brag about coverage from Dallas to Shreveport now using 3 stations.

Why not flip KYKX to Country Legends and get the coverage they are attempting by utilizing 3 stations? Would this sell?

I always thought this was the way to go

Some have speculated the latter in that last statement.

This has been speculated by several and discussed in previous threads. It would seem to make sense to me (and others here on the board) to do this. However, what makes sense and what's acually done are horses of two different colors.

The fact they recently moved KYKX to new digs on US259 North tells me they've got plans for the signal. Still others have speculated some kind of urban format, since Access.1 has a reputation for such a thing.

It will be interesting to see what 2k6 holds for our friends at 105-7.

Ahh......good point and you're right. Access 1 DOES own 98 Rocks. Even better. If it works in Shreveport opposite KTUX, then it can do more powerful damage to 96X. Good observation there, alexpimp. Now why didn't I see THAT coming?

I guess you haven't seen the latest numbers for Shreveport?

KTUX is #1 in the market 12+ and is leading the boys at Access 1's KTAL by over 4 whole points.

Seems to me Access One is content with just "getting by" in most of their markets. They don't put a whole lot energy into trying real hard to be on top. KYKX would be one example.

You're right about KTUX. I recently checked out the latest Shreveport ratings and indeed they are. It just goes to show you that Clear Channell does have a trick up their sleeve after all.

Again another valid point.

KTUX had a great trend....I am real curious if these numbers are for real, or is this a fluke. KTUX came out of no where and is all of a sudden #1??? Very odd for a radio station and a cluster of stations that is doing NOTHING to promote themselves in this market. Even without Mix, Cumulus has done a good job marketing their stations and moving past CC Shreveport in top of mind awareness. When Mix does return soon (see post re: Longview station)let the games begin. KVKI Blows, KRUF sound decent at times, but the morning show bores me....Too much of a kids show for me.

I congratulate KTUX on the numbers, let's see if they hold. As for Access 1, the Shreveport market cluster of stations is a JOKE!!!! Just like KYKX

That KTUX trend came outta NOWHERE...They've been consistantly and solidly behind KTAL for a few years. I'm not saying Access One is any great company to write home about, I don't know much about them....but it's hard to care any less for stations than CC does for stations like KKTX and KTUX. Everyone keeps saying Access ONe has experience in Urban AC and stuff. I was just pointing out what I think is an obvious hole in the market. A good Rock station would get numbers....but could they get salespeople to sell it?? Not a balls to the wall Active Rocker...but a station that keeps the power classic rock..Aero, Zep, ACDC, go deeper on Texas SRV, ZZ Top, and gets some 90's 'Tallica, Soundgarden, STP, and good recurrents and a few top 10 currents that fit. The ratings would be there for sure....but balls to do it, and people to sell it...different stories

You had me, then you lost me! Granted, I'm not a big fan of commercial hip-hop myself, but dude! Keep the racial crap to yourself.
