what about the old morning show from the wolf? or the night guy keola ? seems they are closer to CHR / top 40 than country..imho

Do you mean John Boy and Billy? GREAT CHOICE, if the Doghouse can't come back(I would love to see them re-hired at WiLD). Here are some other great morning shows besides the two that I mentioned:
1. The Morning Madhouse with Sam Diggedy(currently at KDON, Salinas)
2. The Bob and Tom Show
3. Mark and Brian
4. The Freak Show(Currently on 96.1 KISS-FM in Pittsburgh)

Big Boy's Neighborhood. It runs on rhythmic stations elsewhere, and since KYLD is rhythmic it ay fit in well.

if you want to see an outside of LA major market blip of Big Boy find that stream of HOT 97 in NYC and wooooooow...yeahno. It's a kick ass show but too centered to LA for the bay's liking and we all know what happens when we try to mix LA with SF...think back to the not-so-warm welcome of the Baka Boyz...neither market really works well together for the RHY format...How's St. John doing @ myfm anyways? Unless you're on a talk driven station or a very generic format ie. mainstream CHR/AC it's not workin'

Adam Carolla and Tom Leykis are just two of the L.A.-based performers that I can think of that didn't really catch on here. Personal opinion: hire local talent (or bring in great talent from elsewhere) and keep your AM and PM drive shows local.
If you can't spend the money on good local talent at least in those two slots, get out of the radio business and find some other industry to destroy.
