KYNO to move to 940.

Now THAT'S Interesting!
More POWER to ya John O.!~ Yaa!!

Now, if they can update the program schedule. I'd love to see them knock KMJ down several notches with some good counter-programming. I'd rather hear Alan .A. than R.A anytime. He's the only conservative talker that I can stand to listen to, and, that I consider has ANY credibility at all. Appleton's a bad joke.

to ExKyno - i hadn't thought of the call letters. What would be good? KWRU just doesn't have a hook. 'KYNO the Big 940' ?
well, would be better than losing KYNO altogether. In this case 940 IS bigger than 13 or 1300.

Hard to say what John is up to... I'd think they'd carry over KYNO, but he's so nostalgic, it would be a kick to do KFRE again... Fresno radio does seem to hang on to old call letters - KARM, KMAK....

Couldn't you just hear some old Al Radka bits on a reborn KFRE?

The move won't be the answer to the ratings. John apparently has more than enough $$$$ to do what he wants to.

At least they will be on a much bigger signal. In Stockton, I can pick up 940, however, I could never, ever pick up 1300.

Hey not so fast now, aren't the KFRE calls on a TV Station there in Fresno town? It might be kind of tough to get the KFRE Calls for 940 again. Why would Multicultural want to move to a weaker signal anyway? Seems kind of stupid doesn't it? don't get me wrong though I'm all for the move as long as its K Y N O Radio 9 4 0 that's the ticket! I bet Bill and Bobby would have loved to have had the 940 frequency back in The Big 13's heyday! So when is the big switch going to happen? Anyone know?

KYNO the big 940 Dosent sound right,

Very few things radio make me happy any more. This is great for Fresno be it KYNO or KFRE. I just hope if they take KFRE someone in Fresno will take KYNO, it would be sad to lose it, maybe KJWL? One of the other K-jewels around the country might be willing to pay for those calls?

Now if only 940 could grab the Giants games. :p I'd do a flip!

I know but look at another Former Top 40 Legend, KFRC. For years, they were "The Big 610"! Now, after numerous shuffles around the dial, those treasured KFRC calls now preside at 1550 AM. Oh well. At least KFRC still plays Rock & Roll, albeit the Classic kind.

Too bad John coundnt make 1300 like KFRC 1550, Scott Shannon oldies and make it KFRE ,there is something I recall didn't John Ostlund apply for 1150 AM in Fresno?
It's good to see KNYO on 940 that will give KMJ much more competition.

Yes, Ostlund has an application for an 1150 with a c.o.l. of Easton mx'd with someone elses in Hurron. Ostlund's would have 260 watts non-directional day from one of the two towers at the 1300 site. Nights would be from a different new site, 5kw directional with, 12 towers!!!! Expensive to build.

Dodger Games would be better

Mofocat, you cannot be serious. Autry isn't going to draw flies on KYNO - no matter what dial position he's on. KYNO's lineup is old and bland. A move to a stonger signal is not going to translate into increased ratings.

With more power, their advertising can reach out much farther to towns that cannot currently be heard on 1300: Like Visalia, Tulare, Hanford, Lemoore, Bakersfield, Merced, Modesto, Stockton. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ;D

You're right on the $$$$$$$$$$$$, at least when it comes to the cost of running 50K vs the current 5/1. Power won't overcome their programming issues. That said, John may decide to make a few programming changes. We'll need to wait 'n see.

Not necessarily; in Chico, KHSL-TV 12 and KHSL-FM 103.5 have been separately owned since 1994,
when the McClung family (aka Golden Empire Broadcasting) sold off their broadcast properties...

Different owners can have the same call letters for AM,FM and TV even in different cities, two more examples,
KOKO 94.3 in Kerman is a separate owner from KOKO 1450 in Warrensburg, MO.
KKXX in Bakersfield on 93.1 owned by AGM, KKXX 930, in Paradise is owned by Butte Broadcasting.

When I first read the story, I was under the impression that KYNO was making the move to 940 and that KWRU's programming would move to 1300. Reading this morning's Bentley column in the BEE, looks as if Ostlund will launch a new format on 1300 as well.
