It always appears that the line 260-9555 is busy no matter what time of the day I call for the exception of a contest being run. It would be nice to talk with whomever is on the air and get info about a song, artist or anything. The radio station sounds great! Is it that good that they get so many calls and the lines stay that busy?

Or maybe it's the Cheap Channel programming mantra:

"(Insert name of show) in the morning and

I would think KYOT could be easily voicetracked. Anyways this brings up a point.. seems to me KYOT goes reasonable well in the ratings. Why is phoenix a good market for smooth jazz? Many other markets have had a smooth jazz station at a time but seems as our smooth jazz station has lasted quite sometime.

KYOT IS voice-tracked a majority of the day...talent out of CC's "smoooooth" jazz station KKSF-FM/San Francisco. Been that way since day one, or so I was told when I interviewed there about two years after they signed on.

Back in the day, when Doc Ellis worked at KZON, he showed me behind the KYOT curtain-- voice-tracked! It's a great sounding operation, but sadly no one is there to take your call.

I don't believe anyone from KKSF in Frisco is at KYOT. It would be nice to beable to get a request played on a Saturday night, when this type of music is most beneficial. The guy that is on lends so much to making the mood happen.

Back in the day, there were phone ops who answered the request lines on KYOT until about 10:00 at night Monday through Friday. Of course, they couldn't play requests because the shows were tracked about 3 days ahead of time on DAT... but Jorgy thought that "customer service" was important enough to pay someone minimum wage to watch the phones on the automated stations.

Coyote Dave (now at RFP) was one of the original phone ops until they moved him into assembling the voicetrack shows for KYOT.<P ID="signature">______________

When Barbara Blake was on, she indeed was at KKSF. Seem to remember the person prior to Tony Evans was also an out-of towner. Becky Taylor (7-mid) is at KJCD Denver (noon - 7pm!), also does a Sunday jazz show for WMXC Mobile. Nick Francis (Sunday AM) used to be PD at KYOT, now at WJZZ Atlanta.

It's not that the phones at KYOT arfe kept on busy all day.

The request lines at KYOT are forwarded to CC San Francsico, so they can be kept on busy by the 9-5 talent there.<P ID="edit"><FONT class="small">Edited by zumahans1 on 03/08/06 06:05 PM.</FONT></P>
