She isn't the first one to make a classic mistake. Back in the dark ages one of my mentors told me to always consider a mic to be live and don't say anything near it that could get me or the station in hot water.
This morning, I heard Daniel Ruth say that "she forgot to turn her mic off."
Of course, she could have turned her wireless mic off.
The person at the audio console should have turned her mic off as well.
Someone was asleep at the switch in the audio booth.
As Ferreri said ..... "Always consider the mic to be live."
Hey Frank..is it really you? My lovely bride had wanted to get in touch with you. The former Carol Latham of WQYK. If you like you can e-mail me, and I'll send you her e-mail back. Strictly a social call.
Hey Laurence, this is the other Frank,...Ferreri. Speaking of live mics. Remember a remote we did at (I think at a Holiday inn bar). There was a strawberry shortcake eating contest in conjunction with the strawberry festival. The person who ate the most in a minute was the winner. Of course there was drinking involved. One guy ate an incredible amount and then began to throw up. With that you exclaimed "Frank, oh my God, HE'S EATING HIS PUKE". A classic in Tampa Bay radio.
oh yeah that's one of the few things I still remember while drinking..Can't lose that visual. What a gawdaful mess that was..Trouble there was I was reporting the truth..He did win the tee shirt though..and that's what really matters. Was that WFLA-FM93, or Paradise 93?..Or WOJC (Orange Juice Country) or was that the first page of the Power Pig? Much anything past Scott Ferrall, and I'm blurry...might have been the beer in the Pepsi machine on Jackson St (Hmmm?) Hey I didn't really drink that much..just a whole lot more often, and for much much longer periods of time is all...ya see...that's what it was....yeah.
Who's Kyra Phillips?
