KYSJ 105-9 The Wave is out too now :(

This obviously wasn't a very noticeable change but to keep up with it - KYSJ 105-9 The Wave is now cont. Christian. It was a small town but very decent smooth jazz that streamed online. Mark another one down. :(

I just went out to their website and they are featuring 7 x 24 Christmas music; the site is still "The Wave". Nothing about a format change to Christian music.

Yeah there's no indication to me that smooth jazz is dead. Do you have any press release or anything? To me, if they were flipping formats after Christmas, their website would probably be generic, but it's looking like smooth jazz returns after Christmas. Where did you hear they are now Contemporary Christian? I just turned it on right now live online and it's all Christmas music with liners in between saying the Wave is your Christmas music station.

Very seldom is a format change pre-promoted in any way. Usually, even the current staff does not know until, sometimes, an hour before the change.

Boy do I feel stupid! :-[ I listen to many radio stations online so I mistaked their website for 1059thewave.com and it was a different Wave station - KULH in Wheeling, MO. Christian stations shouldn't be called the Wave. So I guess it's still smooth jazz.

That's okay icycool. ;D Not only is it not going away, there just had their ninth birthday as a smooth jazz station. I love listening to this station.

From their home page ...

Happy Birthday!

This month, 105.9 The Wave celebrates it's 9th birthday! It was on March 15th, 2001, that KYSG switched to KYSJ and from Southern Gospel to Smooth Jazz. Truth be told, we couldn't wait to launch the format and actually snuck it on the night before!

We've seen a lot of smooth jazz stations come and go in other cities since we began, but we still believe that 105.9 The Wave is the perfect station and format for Oregon's Bay Area...and we've even gone global, now broadcasting live in streaming audio.

Thank you for being a faithful listener! We look forward to many more years of being the smoothest place on your radio.
