KYSR-HD

Hello,

Can anyone pick up the Digital feed of KYSR-HD?

I'm only getting the Analog right now. I normally listen to the substation 98.7-HD2 to and from work but haven't been able to pick it up since last week. I've tried it on two different radios and I'm only get the Analog. ??? I'm in the Torrance area.

Let me know if you can get the Digital feed of KYSR-HD and what city you're in. :)

Thanks

Power problems at Mt. Wilson and they had a lot of icing. Since the KYSR transmitter site is the back up for many Mt. Wilson CC FM's they may have had to take it off line as they prepare for the worst. But it could be something else, who knows? They may have borrowed components to keep another station on the air...

Just spoke a friend. They're all off due to problems at Wilson, but that's just the Mt. Wilson stations, so I don't know the exact reason KYSR is off.

KIIS HD Siginal Is Also Out

Due to the closure of access to Wilson, the Clear Channel stations may be at the Mulholland auxiliary site, and that is likely not HD equipped; HD for KYSR may be off due to some kind of technical considerations.

KBIG's HD is still online, even though it's CC and it's on Mt. Wilson.

Clear has a variety of sites on Wilson, dating back to when the stations were not commonly owned. So perhaps they have troubles at one or more of them, but not the KBIG site.

Is the KCBS-FM site paired up with some of the CC stations?

Also, where is the main KYSR transmitter?

Thanks for all the replies. Yeah I also noticed today that Jack-FM/KCBS is down, must be related to these issues at Mt. Wilson.

According the to FCC filing the main Analog KYSR transmitter is at 34° 07' 8.00" N, 118° 23' 30.00" W. Google maps puts it at 2555 Briarcrest Rd Beverly Hills, CA 90210, just off mulholland drive. I'm guessing their HD transmitter is on Mt. Wilson, though.

Thanks for your help. :D

The HD and Main transmitter can not be located that far from each other.

Absolutely. And no way a station that could not take its analog signal site to Wilson would be able to put digital there. The reason that KYSR, KROQ, KLAX and KXOL are not on Wilson is that they can't go up there or if they did, the power would be too lo for it to ba advantageous.

There are cases of using a separate antenna for HD, both on the same tower and on a different support structure. The most well known is the Hancock Tower in Chicago, where the analog signals are on the large FM antenna mast, and HD is multiplexed into a different antenna on a different mount. The distance is a hundred or so feet apart.
