Did Mr. Morono not get to the station early enough to hand Jamie her walking papers?

She absolutely deserved the pink slip before those two did...

Ha! Funny how this made it in the news this morning and their little stupid stunt over the weekend didn't. The comments about STAR wasn't nice this morning at KTLA Morning show.

And now Lisa Foxx is looking for a morning gig. How funny would it be if they get rid of EllenK and pair her up with Seacrest?

Wait for her contract window to come up...your wish will then be granted.

Ellen K has one of the best contracts ever written in Los Angles radio. Certainly the best ever written by Clear Channel Los Angeles. She's not going anywhere other than KIIS for years and years unless they want to pay here huge sums of money for doing nothing. It pays to have your spouse be your boss and write an iron-clad contract...

This isn't new news. I posted over 10 days ago before I went on vacation that is was going to hapepn in short order. The question really is who will be left from Star pre-Mike Marino after all is said and done. My (more than a) guess, NO ONE.

I would agree with you on the last part except.. didn't Roy Laughlin left Clear Channel some months ago?

The news from this morning said Jamie is still going to stay. No idea why. Maybe things will change. Time will tell.

I personally thought Bradley should go too. He's annoying IMHO.

Doesn't matter. Roy was there when the contract was drawn up and executed, so even if he's gone, Clear Channel has to live with it.

I suppose if Clear Channel really wanted to, they could sue and claim that there was a direct conflict of interest in having Roy draw up terms for his wife's contract, but if any other company officers signed off on it (and I would imagine they probably had to), that would be a tough case to make.

Jamie isn't part of the plan for Star. But you can't fire everyone right away when they've got contracts at Clear Channel. So don't believe what LARadio.com is feeding everyone.

Bradley isn't getting the afternoon shift permanently (i can't stand him either). He's gone as soon as his contract window comes up just like Jamie.

We're just seeing the begining of changes at Star which will take time. Thank goodness though that the jock approach is going to back to being traditional with real radio veterans.

Jamie wins the award for most annoying LA radio personality, which is not easy to do in a town that has Vick the Brick.

Jamie, Jason and Rick

Glenn...Add my voice to the chorus who will be glad to see Jamie gone. Too bad about Jason though, he's a good talent that was trying to fill the void left by Ryan Seacrest's departure, but probably could have easily adopted the new let the music do the talking approach.

Regarding the new emphasis on Hot AC and Modern AC gold, it is so un-inspiring, it saddens me to see another signal chasing Jack. My hope was to see Star become more like Mix 94.1 in Las Vegas which Mike Marino launched back in the day, or KRUZ 97.5 in Santa Barbara, both of which are much much more currents intensive.

Regarding "radio veterans"...could this perhaps imply Rick Dees? Could CC indeed be interested in bringing him back?

Give it time to evolve. The is a plan in motion. New jocks haven't been hired yet.

Not yet. Maybe later. The idea for now is to serve who grew up on KIIS during its heyday.

Nope. Those now in charge in Burbank hate Dees. And the feeling is mutual.

Dees has nothing going on for Los Angeles at the moment. He really should have accepted the deal at K-Earth for three years instead of insisting on a one year deal.

KIIS in its heyday played all genres of music - from new wave to dance to R&B to pop and rock. You could hear Berlin, Prince, Michael Jackson, and Def Leppard on the same station. KIIS in its heyday WAS Rick Dees, Paul Freeman, Big Ron, Tim Kelly, and Bruce Vidal. My view of the heyday was the summer of 1984. It was "hot hits" jingles, the daily cash payoff, etc. As someone who thinks KIIS in its heyday was one of the best stations ever, I'd have to hear a lot of those elements.

KIIS didn't play rock hits like Def Leppard before KKHR hit the airwaves. So during all of its "heyday(s)" it did not always play all genres of hit music. It was really KKHR appearing on the L.A. radio dial which helped make KIIS even a greater station than it had become (starting with Gerry De Francesco's evolving it from an AC in mid 1982 quickly into a CHR).

As for Star, what you hear today is not the way it will really sound in a few months. No jocks have been hired yet but real major market pros will be on this station in the near future.

Musically, the problem is always going to be how much overlap can there be between 4 different forms of AC that Clear Channel has in Los Angeles. KIIS has become CHR/Pop with a rhythmic slant so that does give Star a chance to play more current pop, rock & modern product.

The "evolution" is in progress...

KIIS did react when KKHR came on - which was August, 1983. Since the real "heyday" of KIIS would be the Gerry D era - I still think summer of 1984 was its peak - it played a little bit of everything. And you are right about the problem of having four forms of AC. Is there room for it?
