KYW 1060 and WYSP 94.1 MOVING PLANS

Any word as to when KYW NewsRadio and WYSP will be moving out of 5th and market and move to a place that they will take over two floors of a building at 400 Market Street in Center City Philadelphia?
 
KYW (tv) was rumored for a while to be moving in March, and now they have the promos talking about them "moving ahead". I would think that the radio division would have the same timeline. The current 5th and Market building is being demolished, so there may be a certain date out there that they have to be out by.

I still don't understand why CBS wouldn't put their entire operation in one facility. Not that 1060 and channel 3 share much content now, but if you're building a new TV facility, how hard could it be to build radio studios for WOGL, WYSP, WIP, WPHT, and KYW?

And why doesn't CBS 3 do more stuff with WPHT and WIP, and vice versa?

I don't think too many people would care if YSP went to 1060 and KYW went to 94.1 though. When you think about it, would it make much difference either way?

People complain about KYW's coverage to the north and west of the city, and no one listens to YSP anyway.

1500 Spring Garden has been there for years, so its most likely a space issue (that and the TV division [specifically speaking, the news] is top priority over radio)

What are some previous tenants of 1500 Spring Garden?

As for the KYWs/WYSP's current home, I remember seeing (in 1971, at age 10) footage on Eyewitness news of an a/c unit being hoisted by helicopter on the roof of then u/c 5th and Market.

I don't think there's enough room to implode that building, unlike the case with another 1971-vintage Philadelphia landmark, Veterans Stadium.

Rittenhouse Sq.... Independence Mall... will City and Monument (either side of City or both) will be the next historic Philadelphia broadcasting address to be shoved into the sunset? I grew up with those broadcasting addresses. :'(

Not too sure as to who used to be in 1500. I assume it was just plain office space. The past couple years though, they've been majorly renovating a couple of the upper floors. On Ground Level, Saladworks, Dunkin Donuts and Quiznos all opened recently (within the past year)
 
part of my job is to work on the program analog links for backbone survival transmissions , when all of the normal links are down ... by the end of march , judging by the dates of the circuits i work on being "rearranged" , for kyw , and the "a" (source) end , the change , must occur by march 27th ....
 
AM started moving today - mostly sales and non-broadcast depts, with the rest next Friday. YSP's last day will 3/16, the same day that the TV stations move.

when do you expect 1060 to be broadcasting from their new studios, the 16th too?

When that day comes, expect the Dick Covington TOH and BOH fanfare to be mothballed. Sadly, I don't think he's available to cut new ones (RIP Dick). Besides, "From 16th and Spring Garden, this is News Radio, KYW 1060 Philadelphia" doesn't have much cachet IMO. :)

Radio is moving to (i believe) 4th and market while TV is headed to the spring garden studios.

That's right, I forgot that the KYW's will be separated geographically when 5th & Market is vacated.

"From one block east of Independence Mall..." ;D

Isn't WTXF at 3rd and Market?
