KYW 1060 - Back To Original Jingles..?

So are the original jingles back on for good, or are they incorporating the new ones in with the original ones? Did people complain ala WPVI's Action News theme change from a while back, does anyone know?

I have heard both the old and the new during the same hour, so I can't tell yet what they are doing. I'll have to admit I was having a difficult time accepting the new jingles.

Last time KYW updated its jingle package (ten years ago?) they mixed old with new for quite a while before switching over completely to the new package.
Not sure why they do this.
I like the new jingles. KYW is obviously trying to do better in younger demos. That's the problem with all news: it's mostly 35+ with a significant proportion 55+.

Re: KYW 1060 - They're Almost Exactly The Same!!!

I think they're just doing a slow phase-out of the old jingles to avoid any sort of listener shock.

New jingles on an institution like KYW will always be hard to get used to. They are so ingrained: We know what each jingle means after all. Without looking at a clock, we can tell roughly what time it is without really thinking about it!

They were difficult to get used to last time they changed and they'll be just as difficult to get used to when they change ten years from now.

The ironic thing about people saying they're difficult to get used to is that the changes are actually quite subtle. It's not exactly a whole new package, is it? With the exception of Sports, the only difference is that the jingles have been re-recorded with a bit more modern sound.
