Philadelphia Business Journal:
Phila. radio stations moving next doorKYW-AM and WYSP-FM in Philadelphia plan to move to a building next door to their current headquarters. The radio stations, which are owned by CBS Radio, will move to 400 Market St., where they'll take over two floors early next year.
READ MOREhttp://www.bizjournals.com/philadelphia/stories/2006/05/29/daily29.htmlI'm sure everybody is thrilled the stations are staying Center City so the staff can continue to pay wage taxes.

Fred:

I believe that anyone who works outside Philly but continues to reside within the city limits must still pay that dratted wage tax. The city gets you both ways: live within the city/work outside the city...you pay wage taxes. Work in the city/live outside the city...you pay wage taxes.

That sucks about as badly, to me, as our state-owned liquor stores, "beverage shoppes" that sell beer/ale in case-lots only and a few other Commonwealth oddities with which I've learned to live over the last decade. :-\

If you take into consideration having to drive to balas broadcast plaza, (which is probably the only other alternative for a quick move) the wage tax is a small price to pay. The "sure kill expressway" vs city wage tax.....wage tax wins. ;D

Or you could live in Bala Cynwyd and not pay any Philly taxes, save on gas, save on car insurance, save on most everything and have a better quality of life.Nobody in their right mind would stay in that cesspool called the City of Philthadelphia.

I would assume that CW57 (formerly UPN 57) will be moving with CBS3 at 15th & Spring Garden? Will Channel 3's new studios be in an existing or newly built facility? Any details on this new complex?

The new facility (CBS3 and CW57) will be in an existing building in Spring Garden to answer your question. However of course, there will be construction and upgrading of the digs for their specific needs as well as accomodating HD...

any time there is a studio move , either to and or from bala cynwyd , or roxborough - manayunk , it affects my job directly .................. it was at it's worst when wcau t v and kyw t v exchanged their hosted networks . due to either perceived or real conflicts of interests , any radio station affiliated with either network also had to move out .
