KYW CBS 3 didn't air CBS Evening News tonight

Instead they did an 1 hour edition of Eyewitness News newscast from 6-7 P. I would like to know why?

First question is why this is on the national board and not Philly. Second question....nah, there really isn't one, because most of the world doesn't care about why they wanted to run an hour of local news. It really doesn't matter.

I care, since I have an ABC affiliate (WEAR-TV in Pensacola, Florida) that doesn't air "World News Saturday" and "World News Sunday" in favor of syndicated and local programming. Sometimes there are weekends when only ABC has a network newscast at 5:00 PM or 5:30 PM Central time and folks in my area have no choices at all.

He posted it on the Philly board too.

I believe you once said that station aired an infomercial right after the local news on weekends, as opposed to the network newscast...

I remember only mentioning WEAR-TV airing syndicated programs instead of the network newscasts on weekends, but the station has occasionally aired local paid programming (infomercials) on Sundays at 5:30 PM after the local newscasts (WEAR-TV has a one-hour newscast at 6:00 PM on Saturdays). This reminds me of my posts about WKRG-TV in Mobile, Alabama airing paid programming or a local newscast on the weekend before joining "The CBS Evening News" all ready in progress if a network sports program were to end shortly after 5:00 PM Central time.
